Stayman's Winesap Apple

An old-time heirloom that has been popular since the 1800's. This apple has a rich, tart, flavor that can be slightly reminiscent of wine. The apples are a blush-red with hints of green poking through. The flesh is a lovely white and is considered tart and spicy. This tree tends to produce larger apples due to it being a triploid (having three chromosomes). This also makes it unable to pollinate other apple trees. Excellent for fresh eating, baking, juicing, and are primarily used in desserts.
